Smoke on the Water is a small book of blog posts written every 2 weeks, on investment management. This book covers the first few months of the 2020 pandemic. Markets were falling drastically, but the Monogram model, which Charles was managing, fell by about 2%. Remember, this was at a time when we saw a 20% drop in world investment markets.
Managing investment is a dynamic activity and investment management is typically obscure. You get some glimpses into the conclusions reached, but the manager’s evolving motives are largely left to one’s imagination. What was he thinking? What factors did he take into account, to reach his conclusions?
How would it be, if such an investment manager spoke to you, personally?
In this book, Charles Gillams does just that.
How?
By looking over his own musings and writing a brief assessment of whether he got it right, or wrong. Just a few words, but you will get a clear impression of what he thinks, looking back.
Now that, most people would admit, is quite unusual.
We think that one or two others, who are investment managers themselves, or wish to know the inside of one of these minds, might enjoy his musings, and later reflections.

There are, we are told, more coming along.
